Boy band Drippin to release new EP 'Villain: ZERO'
Boy band Drippin will drop its newest EP “Villain: ZERO” at 6 p.m. today.
“Villain: ZERO” is the prequel to its last EP, “Villain,” which dropped in January, as part of the band's “Villain’z Era” series.
The lead track of the new EP is “ZERO,” and its lyrics are about how a protagonist feels like their identity is being divided. The song sees members belt high notes at the top of their lungs and features powerful choreography.
“Villain: ZERO” has two more songs: “GAME” and “Trick and Treat.”
“We’re always so thrilled to return with new music, but this EP is even more special in that we’ve worked hard on the performance and visual aspects as well, in addition to the tracks,” Yun Seong, the leader of the band, said during a showcase event at Blue Square in Yongsan District, central Seoul, on Wednesday.
“In the beginning of ‘ZERO’ you can hear a guitar playing, and it’s our first time trying out a rock-inspired sound,” Jun Ho said. “It feels like our musical genre has expanded, and we feel like it’s a challenge for us.”
Jun Ho added that listeners should look closely into “Villain: ZERO,” as it connects the story of the “Villain’z Era” trilogy and will aid in understanding the final part of the narrative, set to be released in the future.
Drippin is a seven-member band that debuted in 2020 with the EP “Boyager.” It consists of members Yun Seong, Hyeop, Chang Uk, Dong Yun, Min Seo, Jun Ho and Alex. All members, except for Alex, had previously appeared on Mnet’s highly-successful K-pop audition show “Produce X 101” in 2019.
