Netflix’s upcoming series 'The Sound of Magic' to premiere May 6

Netflix’s upcoming original series “The Sound of Magic” (2022), which stars actor Ji Chang-wook, will premiere on May 6, the streaming platform said Monday.

“The Sound of Magic” is an adaptation of the romance fantasy webtoon “Annarasumanara” by cartoonist Ha Il-kwon. It was published on Naver Webtoon from June 2010 to January 2011.

The webtoon is also available in English.

Ji will play Lee Eul, a mysterious magician who lives in an abandoned theme park and makes troubles disappear. Lee Eul meets A-yi, played by actor Choi Sung-eun, a teenage girl who dreams of becoming a magician. Lee Eul helps Ai-yi to pursue her dreams.

“The Sound of Magic” is a fantasy music drama and will include music by lyricist Kim Eana, who has written a number of hit K-pop songs like “Abracadabra” (2009) by Brown Eyed Girls, “Good Day” (2010) and “You and I” (2011) by IU and “11:11” (2016) by Taeyeon of Girls’ Generation.

Ji debuted in 2008 with a supporting role in the film “Sleeping Beauty.” His breakthrough was in KBS’s television drama series “Smile Again” (2010-11). He also starred in other television shows such as SBS’s “Warrior Baek Dong-soo” (2011), KBS’s “Healer” (2014-15), SBS’s “Suspicious Partner” (2017) and SBS’s “Backstreet Rookie” (2020).
