New online booking system for indie movie theaters

Art and indie film lovers can now reserve their tickets online through the integrated ticket reservation website www.indieartcinema.com from July 15.

The Korean Film Council is collaborating with nine independent theaters on an integrated ticket reservation platform that will allow moviegoers to conveniently buy tickets at indie theaters.

The new platform is expected to be convenient and cheaper. Previously, independent theaters charged additional fees for tickets reserved online.

It will also allow theaters to promote special screenings, festivals or panel discussions at their venues, while accepting feedback from viewers on what they thought of indie and art films.

The nine theaters participating in the new platform are the Gwangju Independent Film Theater; Fantastic Cube in Bucheon, Gyeonggi; 55 Cinema and Dongsung Art Hall in Daegu; Incheon Milim Cinema; Jeonju Cine Complex in North Jeolla; Cineart Rhizome in Changwon, South Gyeongsang; Indieplus Pohang in Pohang, North Gyeongsang; and Andong Joongang Cinema in Andong, North Gyeongsang.

The platform is available at www.indieartcinema.com from July 15, and a mobile application is scheduled to be released on July 22.
