Singer Lim Young-woong donates prize money to Korea Pediatric Cancer Foundation
Singer Lim Young-woong donated his entire prize of 2 million won ($1,560) from a singing contest to the Korea Pediatric Cancer Foundation, the organization announced Tuesday.
Lim made the donation last month to fund research into childhood cancer and leukemia, the organization said.
The prize money came from Lim's victory at the Nice Trot contest, a competition that supports the “good influence” of stars and singers. Viewers can directly support the cause by completing missions and making donations.
The prize money will be used for the treatment of children suffering from cancer, leukemia and other hard-to-treat diseases.
“We support the future of Lim, who is helping us spend a warm winter through his good influence,” said the Korea Pediatric Cancer Foundation in a press release Tuesday,
Lim is a popular “trot” singer in Korea and has received great attention last year with his first full-length album “I’m Hero.” He is set to meet overseas fans in a two-day concert in Los Angeles on Feb. 11 and 12.
