Suzy to star in upcoming psychological thriller series 'Anna'
Singer-actor Bae Suzy will be starring as the lead in the upcoming psychological thriller series "Anna" next month.
Local video streaming service Coupang Play revealed a poster of Bae as her character in the drama on Tuesday. The caption on the poster reads, "A name I want to have, a life I want to steal."
“Anna” revolves around a woman named Yu-mi, portrayed by Bae, who loses her true identity after living as someone else because of a minor lie that she made up.
Other actors starring in the drama are Kim Joo-han as Yu-mi's husband, Park Ye-young as Yu-mi's only friend, and Jung Eun-chae as a selfish woman who lives a stubborn and lonely life. Jung's character is expected to clash with Bae's Yu-mi.
The drama is Coupang Play’s second original series. Lee Zoo-young, the director behind "Single Rider" (2016), has taken on the series.
After the premiere on June 24, new episodes of the series are scheduled to drop every Friday at 8 p.m. on Coupang Play.
Bae debuted as a member of K-pop group Miss A in 2010. The group quickly rose to stardom with hits including "Bad Girl Good Girl" (2010), "Breathe" (2010) and "Hush" (2013). In 2017, Billboard ranked Miss A at number 10 on their "Top 10 K-pop Girl Groups of the Past Decade" list. JYP announced that the group would disband in 2017 after two of the four members of Miss A opted to not renew their contracts with the agency.
Bae debuted as an actor through KBS series "Dream High" in 2011. She is best known for her roles in the film "Architecture 101" (2012), MBC drama "Gu Family Book" (2013) and tvN drama "Start-up" (2020).
