Actor Lee Sun-kyun summoned, questioned for drug use
Actor Lee Sun-kyun, who was booked on suspicion of illegal drug use, appeared for questioning at the Incheon Police Agency Saturday afternoon.
Lee, who is suspected of using marijuana and psychotropic drugs under the Narcotics Control Act, appeared at the Incheon Police Agency’s Incheon Nonhyun Police Station on Saturday. Before entering the police building for investigation, Lee stood at the photo line and bowed his head in front of cameras five times.
“I sincerely apologize for being involved in such an unpleasant issue and causing great disappointment to many,” said Lee, dressed in a black and white suit. “Above all, I bow my head once again to apologize to everyone who has trusted and supported me up until now.”
Lee added that he will diligently comply with police investigation and that “I am very sorry for my family who is enduring such difficult pain at this moment.”
The police summoned Lee to conduct a reagent test to determine whether he had used drugs, what type he had used and how frequently.
On Friday, the police banned Lee from leaving the country through the Ministry of Justice.
Lee is accused of taking various types of illegal drugs at the Seoul home of a manager of an entertainment establishment, since early this year.
Previously, the police discovered Lee’s involvement in drugs being circulated at a membership-only entertainment establishment in Gangnam District, southern Seoul. The establishment in question, which Lee is known to have frequented, is operated for members only of high-income classes and celebrities.
A total of 10 people, including Lee and singer G-Drgaon, are being investigated by the Incheon Police Agency for drug use.
