Boy band ZeroBaseOne surpasses 10 million cumulative album sales
Boy band ZeroBaseOne surpassed 10 million in cumulative album sales — from its debut album “Youth in the Shade” (2023) to its recently released sixth EP “Ascend-” — according to the local music ranker Hanteo Chart, the group’s agency WakeOne said on Monday.
“Ascend-” alone has sold 514,784 copies from its release on May 18 through Monday. The album is the band’s first release since it restructured as a five-member act.
According to WakeOne, ZeroBaseOne is the first K-pop group to achieve six consecutive million-selling albums — including its second EP “Melting Point” (2023) and its first full-length album “Never Say Never” (2025) — since its debut.
The band’s latest album “Ascend-” topped Hanteo Chart’s daily physical album chart on the day of its release.
The lead track, “TOP 5,” stood at No. 1 on Spotify Japan’s trending chart, and the song’s music video surpassed 40 million views in the shortest amount of time for any of the band’s releases, according to the agency.
ZeroBaseOne, also known as ZB1, was formed as a project group through Mnet’s boy band audition program “Boys Planet” (2023) and debuted with nine members in July 2023.
It released five EPs and one full-length album before completing its group activities in January. All nine members of the band agreed to stay together for two more months, during which they released the special album “Re-flow” and held an encore concert in Seoul in March.
ZeroBaseOne has since restructured to a five-member act, comprising members Sung Han-bin, Kim Ji-woong, Seok Matthew, Kim Tae-rae and Park Gun-wook.
