Former Fifty Fifty members form new group named 'ablume'

Three former members of girl group Fifty Fifty — Aran, Saena and Sio — formed a new trio named ablume, its agency Massive E&C said Tuesday.

The group’s name derives from the German word for flower, “blume,” embodying the meaning of growth and blossoming, according to the agency.

“Like a small seed growing into a beautiful flower, the three members aim to find their own unique colors based on their individual charms and potential, then bring them together to create vibrant, diverse music,” the agency said in a press release.

The new group also made its social media accounts — on Instagram, X and YouTube — the same day as the announcement.

“We look forward to Aran, Saena and Sio showing an even more diverse range of performances and styles to the fans as they have reunited as a new girl group,” said Hwang Choi Han-cho, the CEO of Massive E&C. “We will work hard to provide various opportunities for ablume to connect with its fans both domestically and internationally through social media.”

Massive E&C is a newly established subsidiary of IOK Company. The three former members signed with the new agency in August.

The three members initially debuted as part of the girl group Fifty Fifty under Attrakt in November 2022 and earned success with its song “Cupid” (2023), which reached No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. However, the three members — except for Keena — left the group in October 2023 after filing an injunction against their former agency, Attrakt, for alleged mistreatment in June the same year.

Fifty Fifty returned with a new lineup as a five-member girl group in September, releasing its second EP “Love Tune.”
