Jun Ji-hyun, Gang Dong-won to star in Disney+ series 'Tempest'
Disney+ original series “Tempest” is set to be releasedin 2025 with a star-studded lineup, including actor Jun Ji-hyun and Gang Dong-won, Walt Disney Company Korea said Wednesday.
Spy thriller series “Tempest” revolves around Moon-ju, a diplomat who has built up an international reputation, and San-ho, a special agent whose identity is surrounded in mystery. Together the characters search for the truth behind an attack that threatens the nation's safety.
Jun will play Moon-ju and Gang will take on the role of San-ho.
The series is Gang’s first drama in 20 years since SBS’ drama, “Magic,” aired in 2004.
Gang will also participate as a producer for the series, starting a new journey for his career, according to Walt Disney Company Korea.
The original series will be written by Chung Seo-kyung, who was the screenwriter for the Netflix film “Believer” (2018), as well as cable network tvN’s series “Little Women” (2022) and “Mother” (2018).
“Tempest” will be co-directed by Kim Hee-won, who worked on TV series such as tvN’s “Vincenzo” (2021) and the recently finished hit tvN drama “Queen of Tears," and director Heo Myeong-haeng, who directed the film "The Roundup: Punishment" which recently hit the 10 million admissions milestone, Walt Disney Company Korea added.
