Netflix's original series “Gyeongseong Creature” is set to return with its second season on Sept. 27, the global streaming platform said Wednesday.

The upcoming second season will be set in Seoul in 2024, unlike its previous season set in 1945 during the Japanese colonial occupation of Korea when the city was known as Gyeongseong.

Directed by Chung Dong-yoon, who took the helm of the previous season, the second season will continue the fate between Jang Tae-sang and Yoon Chae-ok, but with a twist as the 2024 Tae-sang introduces himself by another name, Jang Ho-jae.

Actors Han So-hee and Park Seo-jun will appear again in the upcoming season, joined by Lee Mu-saeng and Bae Hyeon-seong.

While further information about the series has yet to be disclosed, the teaser clip of the drama was uploaded on Netflix Korea’s YouTube channel on the same day of the announcement.

The first season of the historical thriller series premiered in 2023, revolving around a group of people who encounter mysterious monsters and the romance between Tae-sang and Chae-ok.

“Gyeongseong Creature” season one entered Netflix’s Global Top 10 TV list in the non-English category for four weeks. It also reached the Top 10 TV list in 69 regions, including Australia, Indonesia, India and Malaysia.
