Pentagon’s Hui will kick off his solo artist career with EP “Whu Is Me : Complex” on Jan. 16, his agency Cube Entertainment said Thursday.

While other information about the album was not disclosed, a teaser image was released on Thursday, showing a cake with the album title written on top and a yellow plastic bag, along with the album’s release date.

Hui debuted in 10-member boy band Pentagon in 2016 under Cube Entertainment. Pentagon is known for tracks "Shine" (2018), "Naughty boy" (2018) and "Feelin' Like" (2022). Hui completed his mandatory military service in November 2022 and joined cable network Mnet's boy band audition program "Boys Planet" this year. He went by his real name Lee Hoe-taek in the program. The band released its digital single “With Universe” on Oct. 10.

Six of its band members — Yeo One, Yanan, Yuto, Kino, Wooseok and Hongseok — departed from the agency in October, leaving only three members — Hui, Jinho and Shinwon — with Cube Entertainment. E’Dawn, now known as Dawn, left the band and agency in September 2018.

Cube Entertainment did not address the rumors of the band pausing group activities or disbanding.
