Thriller film 'A Normal Family' to premiere in theaters in October
Suspense thriller “A Normal Family,” starring Kim Hee-ae and Jang Dong-gun, is set to hit local theaters on Oct. 9, its distributors Hive Media Corp and Mindmark said Wednesday.
Adapted from Dutch author Herman Koch’s novel “The Dinner” (2009), the film follows the choices of four parents after witnessing surveillance footage of a crime involving their children.
Directed by Hur Jin-ho, the film features actors Kim Hee-ae and Jang, as well as Sul Kyung-gu and Claudia Kim.
The film was recently invited to various film festivals, including the 48th Toronto International Film Festival, the 44th Fantasporto International Film Festival and the 38th Fribourg International Film Festival. It was also invited to the 29th Busan International Film Festival, which will kick off on Oct. 2 and run until Oct. 11.
“A Normal Family” is director Hur and actor Jang’s second collaboration, with the first being the film “Dangerous Liaisons” in 2012. The film is also Claudia Kim’s first Korean film after starring in Hollywood films, including “Avengers: Age of Ultron” (2015) and “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” (2018).
The film will be Kim Hee-ae and Sul’s second collaboration released this year. They recently appeared in the Netflix series “The Whirlwind,” which premiered in June.
