TWS's 'plot twist' debuts in top 10 on Circle Chart's Global K-pop chart

Boy band TWS [PLEDIS ENTERTAINMENT]

TWS became the first band that debuted in 2024 to land its song on the top 10 of Circle Chart’s Global K-pop chart.

TWS’s “plot twist” landed No. 9 on the Global K-pop chart for the week of Feb. 11, seven seats higher than the previous week.

The lead track of TWS’s debut EP “Sparkling Blue,” which was released on Jan. 22, “plot twist” is a refreshing track in the easy listening genre, representing the rookie boy band’s unique colors.

The six-member boy band debuted as Pledis Entertainment’s first boy band in more than eight years, following the debut of Seventeen in 2015.

While TWS first earned its popularity as “Seventeen’s younger brother band,” the catchy song quickly caught the attention of K-pop listeners and had its ranks boosted weeks after its release.

The song landed in the Top 10 on many of Korea’s streaming services, including Melon, Vibe, Bugs, Genie Music and more. The band also won three trophies in weekly music shows.

The rest of the Global K-pop chart also saw a few changes in its rankings.

Jung Kook’s “Standing Next to You” (2023) kept its top place, while Le Sserafim’s “Perfect Night” (2023) and (G)I-DLE’s “Super Lady” landed on No. 2 and 3, a step higher than last week.

IU’s prereleased track “Love wins all” subsequently landed on No. 4, two steps lower than last week.

IU also released her sixth EP “The Winning” on Tuesday, featuring five tracks, including “Love wins all,” which the singer-songwriter wrote herself.

The chart is then followed by (G)I-DLE’s prereleased track “Wife” at fifth, Jung Kook’s explicit version of “Seven (feat. Latto)” (2023) at sixth, aespa’s “Drama” at seventh, NewJeans’ “Super Shy” at eight and Jung Kook’s “3D (feat. Jack Harlow)” (2023) at 10th.

Circle Chart's Global K-pop Chart combines streaming data from platforms worldwide, including Korean steaming services Melon, Genie, Flo, Bugs, Vibe and international streaming services Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube.
