Weverse Con Festival final lineup announced ― sans NewJeans
The final lineup for the upcoming 2024 Weverse Con Festival, organized by fan community platform Weverse and HYBE, was announced on Wednesday.
The lineup includes an array of K-pop acts from HYBE's subsidiary labels like Seventeen, Le Sserafim, Enhypen and Tomorrow X Together; however, it notably did not include NewJeans, whose label ADOR is currently engaging in a public feud with its parent company. The girl group did perform at last year's festival.
Seven K-pop acts including J.Y. Park and Plave were added to the festival’s finalized list, according to HYBE’s press release on Wednesday.
The Weverse Con Festival is an annual music event that mainly features HYBE artists. Last year’s event was the first to be held in its current format of a two-day, morning-to-night festival. It is divided into two parts: Weverse Con, the main festival held indoors at the Inspire Arena; and Weverse Park, which consists of outdoor performances at Discovery Park.
A total of 24 K-pop acts will be performing at the Inspire Entertainment Resort from June 15 to 16.
J.Y. Park will hold a performance with “special guests” at the festival as its tribute artist. The tribute stage is “a space where pop music history is commemorated and paid tribute to […] in order to keep its historical significance alive,” according to HYBE chairman Bang Si-hyuk. Last year's tribute stage was organized for singer Uhm Jung-hwa.
It will be the second consecutive time performing at the Weverse Con Festival for boy bands Tomorrow X Together, Enhypen and BoyNextDoor and girl group Le Sserafim.
Non-HYBE artists at this year’s festival include Japanese duo Yoasobi, virtual artist group Plave, one-man band 10cm and Billlie. Model and actor Lee Sung-kyoung will also hold her first performance at a music festival.
Tickets will go on sale at Interpark Ticket in mid-May, according to HYBE. Presale tickets for the festival will be open in advance to membership holders of the performing acts’ official fan clubs.
“The Weverse Con Festival is the only stage where Park Jin-young, who celebrates his 30th anniversary since debuting, rookie group ILLIT, in its second month since debuting, virtual idol Plave and indie artist 10cm can all be seen together,” HYBE said.
“Only 50 days remain until the Weverse Con Festival, a venue where popular music across multiple genres and generations is showcased, and which provides innovating fan experiences through technology. Please look forward to it.”
