Actor Jun Jong-seo [COUPANG PLAY]

Actor Jun Jong-seo will be the first guest host for the sixth season of Coupang Play’s hit comedy “SNL Korea” (2021-) on Aug. 31, the streaming service said Wednesday.

“SNL Korea” is the Korean version of the popular American comedy show “Saturday Night Live” (1975-). The show first aired in 2011 and continued until 2017 for nine seasons on tvN. It was then rebooted in 2021 after it was picked up by Coupang Play.

“It’s an honor to be the first guest host for the sixth season,” Jun said Wednesday in a press release. “I will show the entertainer side of myself that I've never shown anywhere else before."

The fifth season of "SNL Korea" kicked off in March and ended in May. The season was hosted by guests, including actors Yim Si-wan, Han Ye-seul and Hwang Jung-eum.

Jun starred in the film “Burning” (2018), the Netflix film “The Call” (2020) and the Tving series “Bargain” (2022). The actor is also set to star in the upcoming drama series “Project Y” (tentative title), along with actor Han So-hee.
