NCT 127 gets ready to 'WALK' with sixth full-length album
NCT 127 is embarking on a new journey with its sixth full-length album “WALK,” dropping on Monday.
The boy band intends to walk down both memory lane and the path toward the future, according to a press release on Monday. “WALK” will feature 11 songs including the title track.
“The sixth full-length album, aligned with the keyword ‘walk,’ signifies ‘moving forward with our own steps without worrying about others’ views,'” said group member Doyoung.
The title track features old-school hip-hop drums with retro guitar riffs, reminiscent of a 2000s hip-hop song, according to the boy band’s agency SM Entertainment.
“When I first heard it, the vibe hit me right away,” said Jaehyun. “The key point is the performance that complements the groovy sound of the song. It has a different charm from the stages we've shown so far, so please look forward to it.”
The music video of the track will be released on the SMTOWN YouTube channel at 6 p.m., at the same time the album drops.
“This time, we filmed a lot more group scenes than individual shots,” said Yuta. “I think it highlights the charm of NCT 127, so please pay attention to our teamwork and chemistry. Also, since there were many group shoots, we spent more time together, making the filming more enjoyable and memorable.”
“It was my birthday during the music video shoot, and the members threw a surprise party, which I remember vividly,” said Haechan. “I was very grateful and it made the shoot even more enjoyable.”
“WALK” is the first full-length album released in seven months since “Fact Check,” which was released in Oct. 2023. It also comes just a week after their eighth debut anniversary, which was July 7.
“Releasing this album on our eighth anniversary will surely be very special for our fandom, Czennie,” said Doyoung. “As always, our albums are dedicated to Czennie. I hope this album can provide comfort with a variety of emotions.”
“We want to show NCT 127’s relaxed and more mature coolness,” said Taeil. “If Czennie loves the songs and enjoys our following activities, we couldn't ask for more.”
Group leader Taeyong's vocals are also set to be included in the new album. Taeyong began his military service in April and is the first member of the group to enlist.
