Summer Sonic adds IVE, ZeroBaseOne, BoyNextDoor to 2024 lineup

Girl group IVE [STARSHIP ENTERTAINMENT]

This year's Summer Sonic in August is set to feature the largest number of K-pop acts in the Japanese music festival's history.

The festival added IVE, ZeroBaseOne and BoyNextDoor to its lineup on Wednesday, bringing the total number of K-pop acts in this year's festival to eight so far. Other artists announced earlier are girl group BabyMonster, boy bands Ateez and NCT Dream, singer-songwriter duo AKMU and rapper Lee Young-ji.

This year's Summer Sonic will run for two days in Tokyo and Osaka on Aug. 17 and 18 with a revolving lineup. More artists will be added, according to the festival's organizers.

Six K-pop acts performed at last year’s Summer Sonic, including girl group NewJeans, which made its official debut in Japan at the Zozo Marine Stadium.

It will be the first time playing at Summer Sonic for all eight K-pop acts performing at this year’s festival.

ZeroBaseOne will perform in Osaka on Aug. 17 and in Tokyo on the following day. IVE has the same performance dates and venues as ZeroBaseOne, while BoyNextDoor will take the stage in Tokyo on Aug. 18.

More musical acts at this year’s festival lineup include U.S. pop artists Christina Aguilera and Lil Yachty, English singer PinkPantheress and Italian rock band Måneskin. Japanese boy bands Ini and JO1, formed through Japan’s version of Mnet’s audition program “Produce 101,” are also slated to perform.
